Auld Lang Syne

Happy 2015!!! Wow, 2014 sure went by fast. I won't ever forget last year though. It was a year that we were blessed with another angel from God. It was the year that I knew what "Love at first sight" meant. It was a year that broke my heart, but also the year that my faith in God grew stronger. The love between my hubs and I grew bigger. I became closer to my in laws and my parents. I rekindled old friendships and made new ones. 2014 was truly a great year.

Happy New Year from The Barkers!

Losing Jamieson was one of the toughest times in 2014, but it makes my heart happy to know that he is in heaven with his other sibling and other loved ones we've lost. I know that one day I'll be able to hold both of my babies in my arms. I'm excited to see what God has in store for us this new year.

Sorry I've been MIA in the blog world. The holidays are very busy at The Barker household. I figured I would give you a little peek at all the fun things we got to do during the holiday season. It was nice to keep busy and not wallow in my own sorrows.

My side of the family has dinner on Christmas Eve and we play games to pass the time. We wait till midnight to exchange Christmas presents. I love that tradition! It's so much fun and I get to see some of my family members that are visiting from out of town.
He's my sweet little boy. I love this kid so much!

Woohoo! I won a dollar :)

This past Monday, my hubs' granny passed away. God finally called her to his kingdom. I am so glad I had a chance to meet her. I loved her very much. She was a sweet lady. She is now in heaven with her great grandson, Jamieson. On Tuesday we had Christmas with my in laws. We actually celebrated Christmas on the 30th this year. Even though I was sick as a dog (and still am), I had fun hanging out with my in laws and watching my three nephews open their christmas presents. I just love seeing their cute faces light up with cheer. I love my in laws so much! They are amazing people. I'm blessed to be part of the family.

This week, one of my best friends and her daughter (my niece) came in town for the week. We went to City Centre to have New Year's Eve dinner and watch fireworks. It was actually lots of fun. The hubs and I usually stay home with the dogs because our lab, Chief, hates fireworks. This year we gave him some puppy xanax (I hate giving it to him) and put him in his kennel with a blanket on top. It was nice to go out and do something different this year. I mean, I HATE fireworks and think they are a waste of money, but I did it for my niece. I'd do anything for that sweet little girl!

See? You can't say no to this sweet face

Our first and only drink of 2014. She had a watermelon basil mojito and I had a JalapeƱo lemonade
We had dinner at Grub Burger Bar at City Centre and it was oh so delicious! I had a Chickpea Burger which was basically a falafel burger. So yummy! I'm definitely going back.
My burger from Grub Burger was the Chickpea Burger. Sooooo yummy!

After dinner, we went to the plaza at City Centre to watch the fireworks at midnight. I was surprised I stayed up that late! I am usually asleep by 10pm the latest. It was so much fun. The fireworks were actually pretty cool. I think we decided we will make this our tradition from now on.

Well I'll leave you with this wise quote:

Learn from yesterday, Live for today, and Hope for tomorrow.

Happy New year to my family and friends, old and new. Here's to an amazing new year full of many great possibilities!
