Gluten Free Spaghetti Pie

I've been asked to post some of my recipes, so here's this one from last night's dinner. It's delicious!

Gluten Free Spaghetti Pie

  • 1 lb of grass fed organic ground beef (or regular ground beef or ground turkey)
  • 1/2 lb (2 links) Italian sausage (I like spicy)
  • half white onion, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 28 ounce can of San Marzano tomatoes (you can use any type of whole tomatoes, but my favorite is San Marzano, a bit pricey, but worth it)
  • 14 ounces can of tomato sauce
  • 2 TBS of tomato paste
  • 2 tsp of Mrs Dash Italian blend (or use a blend of oregano, thyme, sage, cumin, and dry parsley)
  • 2 TBS of Olive Oil or Mediterranean Oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • Crushed red pepper (if you want it spicy)
  • Gluten free spaghetti (or regular)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup ricotta, cottage cheese, or sour cream
  • 3 TBS fresh parsley, chopped

Heat the oil in a large pot on medium heat. Once the oil is heated, add the diced onions and garlic and cook till transparent; about 2 minutes. Add the ground beef and Italian sausage and cook till brown. Add the can of San Marzano tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and Mrs. Dash Italian Blend. Blend and once it starts boiling, simmer on low for about an hour. After an hour, add the salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper to taste.

Preheat oven to 400 F.

15 minutes before the spaghetti sauce is done simmering, boil some water in a pot and add the spaghetti and cook for about 8 minutes, you don't want it to be too al dante.

Mix cream cheese, ricotta (or which ever one you use from the suggestions above) and a little salt to taste. Add the cooked spaghetti to the cream cheese mix and once blended add it to a pie pan.

When spaghetti sauce is done, add the spaghetti sauce on top of spaghetti cream cheese mix.

Add the mozzarella cheese on top of sauce and bake for 25-30 minutes or until cheese is bubbling and it's browned a bit. I like my cheese a bit crunchy :)

Once it's done baking, add the chopped fresh parsley on top and let it cool off for about 10 minutes so the cheese can firm up.

Serve with a side of your favorite salad. This one is my hubs'. He's pretty boring when it comes to salads, haha!

Doesn't it look yummy?! Hope you enjoy! Leave me a comment if you tried my recipe. The hubs loved it so much, he asked if I can add it to my rotation. He loves his pasta!
